A ‘well’th of activities at Birchwood Park

12 October 2018

Building on the success of Birchwood Park’s first-ever Wellbeing Week in May this year, employees from across the park were once again encouraged to be active, mindful, social, and healthy with a jam-packed calendar of activities.

Whether building their own salad boxes, getting fit with low impact Zumba classes, perfecting their dance moves at salsa, or getting outdoorsy with the group fun run, the 8th – 12th of October saw occupiers around the park take time out to invest in their personal wellbeing.

This month’s Wellbeing Week was aptly timed around World Mental Health Day, held annually on the 10th of October. According to mental health charity Mind, over 50% of workers struggle with mental health. Directly addressing this, our aim was to better not only the physical health of workers, but their mental wellbeing too. Activities with a focus on mental wellbeing included mindfulness sessions with Holistic Haven and pottery painting with the Sunshine Craft Café.

Martin O’Rourke, commercial director at Birchwood Park, said: “We’re continually looking at ways we can raise the bar when it comes to workplace wellbeing, ensuring that our efforts go much further than simply paying lip service. We want everyone on the park to have the chance to live and breathe a healthy lifestyle, supporting a productive and enjoyable experience in the workplace.

“While we have been promoting the importance of staff wellbeing for the last 20 years, Wellbeing Week has helped highlight the range of benefits we provide to support our occupiers. It is important that companies expect more than just a building from their workplace, we encourage everyone on the park to take advantage of all we have on offer – from our ducks on the lake, and the gym, to our ever-popular movie nights, and yoga sessions!”
